Why We Love It:
One of the largest cell phone providers in the country with over 104 million customers, T-Mobile is a major competitor and one of the big competitors for people’s attention and wallets when it comes to cellular and data services. Being a major competitor, it at times offers incentives for people to switch such as waiving certain fees and being willing to pay off device balances with other providers.
T-Mobile also tends to know what people want and is able to provide perks such as free subscriptions in its plans and a wide host of other features, hoping to attract more customers by offering complimentary what other providers would nickel and dime customers for. T-Mobile is also one of the only providers to offer truly unlimited data, taking a bold approach in not capping or throttling data at any point for its premium customers, no matter how much is used.
All of the above make T-Mobile a clear leader for people looking to stream content or work on the go, giving it a defined place in the market and something to bring to the table, even if other major providers might be able to offer slightly greater speeds in the area.
T-Mobile was founded in 1994 as VoiceStream Wireless and is the brand name of the mobile services subsidiaries Duetsche Telekon AG, which is active in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Poland, and the United States. Deusche Telekon is based in Bonn, Germany and the CEO is currently Timotheus Höttges. Notably, T-Mobile acquired Sprint in a merger (completing in 2020), expanding its holdings and operational power considerably in the United States. Prior to this, in 2013 T-Mobile merged with MetroPCS, one of the largest carriers in the nation at the time.
